Proofreader

Phoenix Creative Co. is seeking a highly skilled proofreader to join our team. Our agency is responsible for a high volume of packaging and retail-focused design assets. Proofreaders at PHX review legal copy for compliance on nationally known beer packaging, double check offer details on point-of-sale elements—noting edits that the design staff then updates, and reviews medium to long form copy for brand consistency as well as a variety of other accuracy standards, among many other proofing scenarios.

Opportunity and responsibilities to grow with aptitude and initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Proofread artwork files, award submissions, etc. using standard industry-wide symbols at various stages of development
  • Communicate edits and any questionable or inconsistent information to the correct designer or account team

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Particular eye for catching grammatical, typographical, and compositional errors and incorrect word usage
  • Familiarity with advertising, CPG/alcohol brands a plus

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related field
  • 5 years of related work experience
  • High level of skill in written English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and adapt to fluctuating project demands
  • Ability to take and follow directions as well as work independently
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of Mac systems and applications, including Keynote

Designer/Production Artist

PHX Creative is looking to add several new graphic designers with strong production skills to our staff. These team members will help us produce a wide range of point-of-sale, retail collateral, and shopper marketing assets in both print and digital formats. You’ll work with a team of art directors, designers, and account managers to help internationally known brands succeed in market. These roles are a critical part of our larger team and will have to handle multiple deadlines in a very fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. A willingness and desire to be focused on the production aspect of the creative industry as well as having strong design ability is a must.

As a Designer/Production Artist at Phoenix Creative you will:

  • Work with account managers and assigned designers and art directors to prepare layouts and press-ready files for a variety of printed point-of-sale elements as well as digital assets.
  • Extrapolate approved designs across a variety of alternate specs and dimensions.
  • Make all requested edits/corrections promptly and accurately.
  • Perform retouching, color correction, and clipping of backgrounds on images, and optimize them as needed for production specifications.
  • Digitally compose/assemble images that showcase our client’s products in store environments.
  • Digitally modify flat artwork to appear three-dimensional.
  • Check all layouts for completeness and adherence to brand standards.
  • Prepare approved assets for final delivery to press, web and mobile.
  • Manage a large workload and pay close attention to visual and technical details.

You’re a great fit for this position if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or print production from a four-year college or university is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of agency, or in-house experience is preferred, or proven, related experience and/or training.
  • Proficient in the Adobe Create Suite with extensive knowledge of both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of printing processes.
  • Organized with sharp attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills

Print + Motion Designer

PHX Creative is seeking a graphic designer with motion graphics experience to join our team. This role will be a blend of print design and motion graphics work—helping our roster of internationally known brands succeed in market. You’ll work with a team of art directors, designers, and account managers to produce creative solutions that help brands speak to shoppers. Can you juggle multiple deadlines in a very fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, and still be creative? If so, let’s talk. A willingness and desire to be focused on both the print and motion sides of the creative industry is a must.

As a Print + Motion Designer at Phoenix Creative you will:

  • Concept, build, and edit motion graphics for digital menu boards, web banners, and other interactive media focused on retail advertising.
  • Build high impact digital ads.
  • Edit short format videos.
  • Create short format animations for use on social media outlets.
  • Extrapolate approved print designs across a variety of alternate specs and dimensions.
  • Perform retouching, color correction, and clipping of backgrounds on images, and optimize them as needed for production specifications—both print and digital.
  • Digitally compose/assemble images that showcase our client’s products in store environments.

  • Online portfolio demonstrating visual design skills and innovative interactive and motion work
